The GLNF crisis has extended beyond questions of Recognition by Grand Lodges, the ruling bodies of symbolic Lodges throughout the world. Now the Knights Templar have joined the fray. In its report 2009 – 2012 to the 65th Triennial Conclave of the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar of the USA, the Committee on Foreign Relations recommends that the Knights Templar suspend relations with the Great Priory, Knights Templar of France. This recommendation was adopted. link
The reason given ? …“This action is necessary as their associated Grand Lodge, the Grande Loge National Française, has had their recognition suspended by the major Grand Lodges of Europe as well as by several Grand Lodges in the United States.”
As well, the committee recommends that “…the officers of the Grand Encampment not participate in the upcoming World Conference of Grand Masters of Templary hosted by the Great Priory of France.”
When the news of this recommendation makes the rounds of the other Knights Templars of the world there are likely to be additional suspensions of relations with the French Great Priory and additional decisions to not participate in the world Conference. Perhaps those attending will be able to squeeze into a phone booth and still close the door !!!
André Bassou, Grand Master of the French Grand Priory, lists those foreign Grand Priories that have already registered their intention to attend the triennial conference in Avignon. Let us see how many decide to reverse their decision once they learn that their American Brethren will not be attending.
